We are in search of a part-time Interim Sheep Shack (Grades 4th-6th) / Confirmation Assistant.

Position Details

Hours/Pay: Flexible, up to 20 hours per week. This is a paid position.
Primary Responsibility: To know, love, and challenge the children and youth of the congregation, helping them grow in their faith discovery.

Job Description

Primary Responsibility: Know, Love, and Challenge the children and youth of the congregation so they may grow in discovery of their faith.

Responsibilities

1. Plan, organize, and teach Sheep Shack after-school elementary program so that it provides a dynamic, engaging afternoon for the kids to explore their faith journey.

-Plan weekly lessons and activities
-Lead group games
-Develop positive and empowering relationships with the children
-Maintain Sheep Shack & Youth Room spaces

2. Assist the Pastor with the Confirmation Program:

-Evaluate Sermon notes
-Develop supportive and respectful relationships with the youth

3. Oversee the Sunday School Program, help organize volunteers who will plan, teach, and implement ELC’s Sunday School Program.

-Plan and work cooperatively with Christian Education on Rally Sunday
-Manage Funds
-Manage Health/Safety Forms

4. Involve the congregation in the Youth Ministry and participate in Christian Education Meetings.

-Attend committee meetings
-Involve committee members in youth activities and planning events
-Plan Special Youth Programs as necessary

-A strong, compassionate, and enthusiastic faith
-Strategic thinking to maintain and plan multiple projects simultaneously
-Creativity, to develop new or sustain old methods of faith formation
-A mindset of service, both to youth and the community
-Flexible communication abilities that can write an essay, craft an email, and reach out through social media
